Trustees

The Board of Trustees has ultimate decision-making authority and responsibility for the general management of the Trust in accordance with the provisions set out in the Memorandum and Articles of Association and so must:

  • Ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • Hold the Executive Leadership Team to account for the educational performance of all MAT academies and their pupils and the extent to which the vision of the Trust is being fulfilled
  • Oversee the financial performance of the Trust and make sure its money is well spent
  • As charity trustees (within the terms of section 177.1 of the Charities Act 2011) the Trust Board must also ensure that they are complying with charity law requirements by “advancing education for the public benefit”

Therefore, in order to achieve these objectives, decision-making and responsibility regarding the vision, strategy, performance and day-to-day operations are delegated to the Executive Leadership Team, sub-committees, Local Governing Bodies and the Headteachers of each individual academy. This is documented in the Scheme of Delegation.
